Changing Lives with Computers
 |
Can a course taken on computer change a life? It did when Alona took the “Faithful Stewardship” course held at a computer center in Zaporozhye, Ukraine. Alona is the daughter of a pastor; she had heard the Gospel throughout her life, and was attending her family’s local church. However, not until she was confronted with the spiritual truths presented in the Stewardship course did she begin to get serious about her own Christian life. The Stewardship course helped Alona not only in her personal walk with the Lord; it also encouraged her to use her time and talents for the Lord. Alona became serious about ministry and realized that she had skills that could be useful to others. She recognized that the computer skills that she had acquired were skills that others needed. Christians needed computer skills to get better jobs. Youngsters could be attracted to computer courses at church and then be encouraged to stay for youth group activities at church. Alona, along with her dad and her brother, work together to plan meaningful and interesting activities for children and teens at church. They hold Sunday school classes, even on Saturdays. They direct youth groups. They teach computer skills to adults and to young people. People come to church for the computer classes, and then stay for youth group or Sunday school. The family is witnessing church growth and changed lives in their community. Can a computer course change a life? It changed Alona’s life, and through her, the lives of others are changed as well.
