Hawes Family Update--June 11, 2007
================================================================================

--- We are moving... ---

That's right! If all goes as planned, we will be moving to an apartment on the other side of the city on June 22. So why are we moving? Well, as I told you about in our last update, God brought the SEND language school back into the picture for us a few weeks ago. Since then, we have decided that attending the SEND language school in the fall is the right thing for us to do. Jody had an interview with them and they want to place her with a class that is already half-way through the two year program. She has a little bit of work to do this summer to fill-in some grammar gaps, but that's it. That means that Jody should only need one more year of formal language study to meet our mission's requirements. That's great news for us, because it means we will only need to manage the pressures of having us both in language school for one year instead of two. But that also means that this next year is going to be the hard one.

So what does the SEND language school have to do with moving? Well, the school is on the other side of the city from where we are living now. By public transportation it can take us up to and hour and a half or more each way to get there. That really doesn't make sense to do four times a week. Plus, we were already thinking of moving in August to try and get closer to a Metro stop. So as we talked with people at the language school and other missionary families we had contact with through the kid's school, God quickly showed us two apartments that we could move into. The one we chose is owned by a Ukrainian Christian couple who was relocated during the Chernobyl disaster. They are going to move out to their country cottage (datcha) and use the rent money to help there son who recently got married and is living in Canada. It is a very nice apartment and already fully furnished. It's on the 9th floor and has a nice view. But the best part is, it is only a five minute walk from the SEND language school, and almost the same distance from a Metro station. God is good!

If you want to see where the apartment is at for yourself, just follow the link below. Google lets you overlay information on their maps, so I have setup a map to show you some of places of interest to us in Ukraine. Go ahead, take a look around. Be sure to zoom in, the satellite detail is very good.

Please keep our move in your prayers. Our friends at Bible Mission are helping us coordinate things, but moving is always a stressful time. Our move also impacts our decisions on what to do for the kids schooling next year. Please continue to pray as we, together with our mission, decide what is best.

--- What to do about our car? ---

We still have not sold our 2000 Subaru Impreza. It is back in Pennsylvania just waiting for a buyer. We had hoped it would have sold by now, but it hasn't. It's in great condition and it's worth at least $6,000. The money from the sale of the car will go into our account for the future purchase of a car here in Ukraine when we needed it. Please pray that God shows us what to do. We could pay to have the car sent over here, but we don't need the car here right now and it seems it would be more trouble than it is worth. If you know of someone who might be interested, please give them our email address so we can send them details. GetHooked@Fish4Him.net

Here are some more things to be praying about:

- Please begin praying for the October conference of the directors of the eLearning Centers (eLC) in Ukraine. Our eDOT ministry has been working with local churches and bible schools to install these centers and utilize them to train leaders and reach out into the community with the message of Christ's love. Pray that the meeting plans come together in a way that will encourage and empower the eLCs to expand their ministry. I will be taking part in the conference and I am looking forward to building relationships with the directors and others I will be working with in my ministry.

- The political situation in Ukraine has settled down again, but the sources of the turmoil still exist. New elections are now scheduled for September. Please pray that the situation remains calm and that righteousness will prevail.

- We thank God that temperatures have dropped back down to a more seasonable 70s and low 80s.

- Thank you for praying for Jody's health. She is still feeling the effects of the detoxification process, but things seem to be getting better. The cooler weather has been a great comfort. Please continue to keep Jody in your prayers as she tries to stay healthy.

Thank you for your prayers,

Andrew Hawes
